Ruti de Vries’s studio is located in a bomb shelter. For her, this is where the truth is, as a secret cave filled with answers. Marking the world with colors and materials is the truth for de Vries. In this work, the ‘truth’ is marked in red and the searching for the truth is marked in blue. The ‘truth’ itself is revealed as a metal detector - an object who is certain of finding the truth, but the metal detector, as the truth, cannot be grasped, and therefor, are searching for themselves.
